How to block calls ?
Unwanted calls can be an annoying disruption and, in some cases, even dangerous. Unfortunately, spam and robo-calls have become a reality for most people and while it may not always be possible to completely prevent them, here are some ways to minimize these intrusions and keep yourself safe from potential fraud:
1. Don’t answer calls from unknown numbers:
If you’re wary of a number, it may be best to let it go to voicemail. Most legitimate callers will leave a message.
2. Be wary of suspicious requests:
Never give out your personally identifiable information (PII) over the phone. This includes information such as social security numbers, bank account numbers, and parents’ first names.
3. Use built-in security functions:
There are settings on both iOS and Android that let you block unwanted calls from saved contacts or unknown numbers. You can also check with your mobile carrier to see if they offer call-blocking services for known spam numbers. Some phone carriers also allow creating personal block lists.
4. Use a call-blocking app:
Some mobile apps use a database of known/reported spam numbers that can warn users about potential scam calls before they answer.
5. Report spam calls:
If you ever receive a spam call, always make sure to report it to the proper authorities. This way, more such illegal operations can be tracked and possibly shut down.
